~A blog for all my cute handmade amigurumi~
Hi everyone!
My name is Sylvia and I am currently a student at university.
This is a blog for all the amigurumi that I have made and if you like my amigurumi, I sell them in a little craft shop called the ‘Treasure Trove’ in Edinburgh. (Its such a lovely feeling seeing your ami being displayed! :3 ) I also sell my ami on commission so if there is something you would like me to make, please don’t be shy and message me! (It would all help to the cost of wool and stuffing etc. as well as making my student life just a bit easier! lol)
I first discovered the world of amigurumi in the summer of my second year of uni just before we were about to break off for summer holidays. I was reading a manga and the male protagonist was making these incredibly cute crocheted teddy bears. (the manga was Otomen by Aya Kanno by the way)
Having fallen in love with these incredibly cute teddy bears, I searched up cute crochet dolls on google and was amazed by the masses of photos I saw and thus stumbled on the world of amigurumi.
So that summer, I borrowed some crochet books from my local library and tried my very best to learn to crochet. As I was a complete beginner, i had no idea what all the abbreviations meant and the pictures they show were not very helpful! I felt very discouraged at that point and was about to give up! But I persevered and after a (solid) week of hard work, I finally made my first ami-a little white kitty with a red dress from Nicki Trench’s Super cute crochet (my very first amigurumi book)-and I cannot tell you how proud I was of myself at that moment, though looking back, haha it wasn’t my best ami I have ever made! (you can see it here)
So that summer was spent making lots of amigurumi and I’ll like to think that the ami I have made has improved since then!
But because of uni work and because I didn’t have any friends who liked to make amigurumi as well etc. etc., I stopped for quite a long while..and only picked it up again last year when I wanted to make Ace from One Piece as part of my secret santa present for my little sister. And that rekindled my love of making amigurumi once again~ I’m so glad that happened and in June of this year, I joined tumblr and am so happy to have discovered all these people who love amigurumi as much as I do! I am also so happy and touched by everyone who has ever liked, reblogged or followed me-all of your input are greatly appreciated and keeps me motivated to keep on making cute ami!
So that me!~ I’ll keep on doing my best and hope I can keep on making ami as long as I live!~
Thank you for supporting me and I hope I can share the joy of amigurumi with you as I blog about my amigurumi!
